Dee Edwards, a co-founder of campaign group Mothers Against Murder and Manslaughter, said Mrs Regan
would visit schools and give talks about the dangers and consequences of getting involved in crime
and carrying weapons.
Mrs Edwards said: "She's made such a big difference to so many people's lives. This is an absolute
tragedy for so many people."
Mrs Edwards said she had known Mrs Regan for about six years and was shocked by the news of her
death.
She said: "It's just the most dreadful news for everyone. She's just an amazing woman. She was the
most incredible woman. We just love her to bits, she's just an incredible lady, I just can't take
this in.
"She's open, she's honest, she's got a massive heart, she helped so many people."
In reaction to the news, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said: "I was extremely shocked and saddened to
hear about the tragic death of Pat Regan this weekend.
"I had met Pat on several occasions and had been greatly impressed with her dedication to tackling
gun crime.
"Pat worked tirelessly and achieved a great deal for the voluntary organisation Mothers Against
Violence, going into schools and educating young people on the dangers of joining gangs and carrying
weapons. Her death is a great

was a great support to her family and friends. I never thought for one moment that pat would be
having her own memorial page on GoneTooSoo so suddenly and under such sad and shocking

Don't think of Pat as missing,
her journey's just begun,
life holds so many chapters
this earth is only one.
Just think of Pat as resting
thru the sorrow and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort,
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing

Long dreadlocks swaying back in the day,
I raised six children in my loving way,
Children getting older,times and things must change.
Cutting off my dreadlocks, curly hair i now arrange
Living life and loving life thats how life should be.
In December 2002 my Danny was taken from me,
Thats when my life was broken and my heart was torn in two.
Then i realised what happend to me could also happen to you.
A fire on the inside would burn in me so strong
Educate the young people teach them right from wrong.
Educate the parents,educate the government too.
A change in law must come to protect both me and you.
So this is how it started,this is how it all begun.
Out on the road marching'PEACE ON THE STREETS'we'd shout to everyone.
Put down the gun, put down the knife
Respect yourself, respect that life.
In and out of schools i'd talk to everyone,
then another meeting then another song
Off i go to downing St to plead with them again.
Trying to get them to understand the heartache and the pain.
Asking them to change the law begging them to think again.
It's on our news so regular complacent we've become.
To hear another life's been taken by a knife or by a gun.
Another family shattered,another families pain.
I'd rush to meet that mother and sigh ' here we go again'.

PEACE ON THE STREETS OF REDCAR ITS FOR YOU PAT !
I WOULD LIKE TO TELL ALL WHO VISIT PATS SITE THAT THE YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE NORTH EAST ARE FED UP OF BEING BLAMED FOR THIS TERRIBLE RI8SE IN VIOLENCE ON OUR STREETS. PAT AND I WERE GOING TO HAVE ONE OF HER 'PEACE ON OUR STREETS MARCH'S' BUT IT NEVER HAPPEND, HOWEVER WITH THE HELP OF MANY YOUNG PERSON WHO HAS BEEN IN MY CLASS AT THEIR SCHOOL TALKING OF THE VIOLENT CRIME AND WHAT WE CAN DO TO STOP IT, I AM HAPPY AND PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE WALK WILL GO AHEAD ON THE 14TH SEPTEMBER AT 10am IN REDCAR WITH PAT AS OUR ICON AND UNSUNG HERO. I cannot believe you're gone. You were such a lovely, bright cheerful person who always showed compassion and gave comfort to all around you. The many messages on this site shows how you were an inspiration to your family, friends and to all those you encountered. You are truly missed. God bless you Pat. Sweet angel, rest in peace.

Just to let you no i went to your funeral and like the many people have said before, the love i felt that day....I will never forget the things people said about you, they confirmed what i already knew, that you was a special, special person...when some people turned a blind eye you opend your door....at times we even all broke out laughing at the things people said you used to do....your send off was amazing and i even got to march which felt so good as ive never done it with you before.....the amounts of people and the lifes you touched are endless.......people talk about hero's and celebrities but you are a real hero a peoples hero a community hero.....i will never forget the words that one man said.....you never chose the work...the work chose you.........and in that you did all you could do and you did your best I dont even think you will have even realised the impact you had on so many peoples lifes......mine for one....i wore my T-shirt with your name and face, and MAV website.....and everytime we mention your name we do it with pride and dignaty and hope.......hope that things will change and the government will listen and the people/ mums dads, brothers/ sisters/ auntys/ uncles/ neices/ nephews/ cousins will all say enough is enough........i just have to mention that there as been programms on all week about gun n knife crime....one of them really pissed me off.....because they mentioned you and they were talking about all these youth taking lives etc....then they said Pat Pat Regan an anti gun and knife campaigner got killed by a youth, and left it there....didnt say nothing more nothing less....the people who love you and the people who are close to you no this is not true....you was taken by your grandson who was ill, who you loved..who the day before you was taken you had tryd to get him help,you physically went to the hospital and pleaded with them to help him but no yet again you/ we as a community was let downn by the system.....just like so many of the youths today.
In your honour Pat we will always make sure the truth is told.
i would just like to tell you that i have never met your family or didnt even get chance to spk to them on your day.....but i tell you this from the bottom of my heart they are truely inspirational and a credit to you, or even a reflection of everything you stand for, when people got upset and maybe angry about what had happend to you your family stood up and spoke out in a way you would have wanted them to...Hearing them made me no how much more special you are...I have nuff luv and respect for your family esp your daughter, and rahkeims mum stay strong....I admire you for your strenght and what you did on that day xxx
