Dee Edwards, a co-founder of campaign group Mothers Against Murder and Manslaughter, said Mrs Regan
would visit schools and give talks about the dangers and consequences of getting involved in crime
and carrying weapons.
Mrs Edwards said: "She's made such a big difference to so many people's lives. This is an absolute
tragedy for so many people."
Mrs Edwards said she had known Mrs Regan for about six years and was shocked by the news of her
death.
She said: "It's just the most dreadful news for everyone. She's just an amazing woman. She was the
most incredible woman. We just love her to bits, she's just an incredible lady, I just can't take
this in.
"She's open, she's honest, she's got a massive heart, she helped so many people."
In reaction to the news, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said: "I was extremely shocked and saddened to
hear about the tragic death of Pat Regan this weekend.
"I had met Pat on several occasions and had been greatly impressed with her dedication to tackling
gun crime.
"Pat worked tirelessly and achieved a great deal for the voluntary organisation Mothers Against
Violence, going into schools and educating young people on the dangers of joining gangs and carrying
weapons. Her death is a great

Pat was a big supporter of GoneTooSoon she set up a page for her son, she told me how much the site
was a great support to her family and friends. I never thought for one moment that pat would be
having her own memorial page on GoneTooSoo so suddenly and under such sad and shocking

To my dear friend Pat on her birthday ... you are working overboard up there girl, your magic has been suprising so many and i am becoming stronger by the day. We had results yesterday Pat, you'd av been so proud of two young lads who had the guts to launch a knife anmesty with me at Stockton Police. it was indeed history in the make. Now the rest will follow Pat i just know it. Well my luv times going so fast and there is so much to do. You would tell me to take 'a day at a time' i know, so this is what i'll do.. I miss you Pat, friends are so hard to come by this day and age and 'trust within a friendship is virtually impossible im so glad we were the same within ourselves as well as on the outside.I make a birthday wish for you today Pat, ive thought hard and long about it and theres no doubt about it being that ' I wish for peace in your daughters life, peace in her surroundings and peace of mind to her. One thing i'd say today... unite together and stand hand in hand,
Think of those looking down from Gods promised land.
Meek and mild some still a child, some like flowers their loves growing wild. Think of their names in the whispering winds, in the sound of the birds in the trees, in the feel of the sand as you fall to your knees.
Think, feel and sense the love all around from the high blue sky to the lowest eb of the ground. Colours can talk and they speak of so many things from green grass, blue skies red cherries and golden rings. Rain drops fall from above landing in pairs so gracefull so full of love, the trees sway in the wind the whispering grass, the elergant willow whos branches change as the seasons all pass.
